WHERE DOES MY CHILD GO AFTER SCHOOL?

Kindergartners will be picked up in their classrooms DAILY by the LEDP staff.   The Lawrence Kindergarten teachers will be given a list of LEDP students so there will be no confusion.

1st graders will walk downstairs from their classrooms daily. BUT for the first 2 weeks of school, the LEDP 1 st  grade teachers will pick the kids up from their classrooms until they feel comfortable with the transition themselves.  The first graders will begin their day in the cafeteria, doing homework, quiet games and having snack and end their day in the LEDP small room.

2 Group: The 2nd graders will come straight to the large LEDP room located in the basement where they will meet their team for check in and homework.

3 Group :  The 3rd graders will come straight to the cafeteria, where they will meet their team for check in, homework, snack and then move to the Large LEDP room for free play.

4/5/6 graders will meet their team in the 3rd grade wing this year, where they will check in, work on homework before all of the fun activities that are in store for them in the afternoon. They will then end their day in the large LEDP room.

The LEDP Program is housed in the basement of the Lawrence School.

We use a variety of spaces in the school, such as the gyms, the cafeteria and both LEDP rooms ( in the basement) as well as the outdoors daily.

All of our groups will have a homework time (1-6), a snack time, as well as be outdoors and/or gym each day.

WHERE DO I PICK MY CHILD UP?

Again this year, the Lawrence School will have a drop off/pick up policy. The doors of the Lawrence School will be closed to the public and we will need to have a scheduled pick up time for each child for LEDP. If you were part of our program last year, this will feel very familiar to you.

Our scheduled pick up times will be the following:

4:30p.m. 5:00p.m. 5:30p.m. and 5:45p.m. (last pick up)

I asked families to commit to a time frame for two weeks at a time, as making changes daily will be very difficult for our staff, and random pick up times, will interfere with teacher/child ratios in groups. So please think about family schedules and let us know which time will work best for your family. Once September passes and family schedules are settled, we will then ask for families to commit a month at a time. (as always, we

understand things come up, or sports schedules change, and we are very willing to accommodate, but making daily or last minute changes will only cause disruption.

The 1st grade group, 3rd grade group & 4/5/6  group will meet parents at the side door right outside the fenced in playground.

The Kindergarten group & 2 group will meet parents at the door closer to the circle soccer area.

PLEASE NOTE THE PICK UP TIMES AGAIN ARE:

*4:30. *5:00 *5:30 * 5:45 (LEDP closes)

Please email me back your child’s name and a designated pick up time, and I will create pick up schedules. These will need to be set in place before school begins.

WHO ARE MY CHILD'S LEDP TEACHERS?

I am thrilled to have many of our staff returning. Janet and I have worked hard during the summer to evaluate our LEDP staffing and formulate the best teaching team for each age group. I am confident that these changes will only make our LEDP program stronger. All of our staff members have many unique qualities, talents, and, most importantly, experience and I am excited to have many returning. I would like to introduce our NEW LEDP Groups:

Kindergarten Group: Jackie Rosa (Co- Coordinator), Bridget Gardiner (Co-Coordinator) & Josie Langan

1st Group : Emilia Forythe (Coordinator), Charlie Jedrey & Sarah Clay-Mendez

2 Group: Gus Lamb (Coordinator) & Brittney Roberts

3 Group:  Sam Mitchell (Coordinator) & Allison Kussman

4/5/6 Group: Irene Limlengco (Coordinator), Aaron Joseph & Natalie M-Casen

IS LEDP OPEN ON EARLY RELEASE DAYS?

YES- LEDP is open for Early Release days for NO additional cost.  The kids will come to us at either 12:00 or 12:40 IF it is their scheduled LEDP day.

This year the Early Release days are as follows:

November 8 , November 16, November 30, December 6,  April 3 , April 11, April 25, May 1

IS LEDP OPEN FOR VACATION/HOLIDAYS?

YES- LEDP is open for holiday care.   Families will need to sign up for these days approximately 3 weeks ahead of time  and the cost is $75/per day/per child.  The hours are 8:30-5:30.  Yom Kippur (9/25), Professional Development Day (10/3) Good Friday (3/29).

Please note: LEDP will NOT run programming for the February Break and April Break. Please plan accordingly.

DOES LEDP ALLOW TOYS FROM HOME?

NO!  We have plenty of materials here at LEDP.  We do not want to be responsible for lost/stolen or broken things.  If children bring them, we will nicely ask for items to be left in back packs or cubbies.  As always, there are exceptions to this rule, if your child needs items, please speak with the teachers directly.

WILL MY CHILD COMPLETE HIS/HER HOMEWORK WHILE IN LEDP?

Yes- Grades 1-6 have a scheduled homework time Monday-Thursday. We have all of the supplies they will need.   We will guide and support them, but LEDP is unable to give 1:1 tutoring time.   We also do not correct all of the homework, as the classroom teachers want to see if children are having issues.  Please note:  Our homework times are right after school, so if you are signing up your children for LSA classes (Lawrence Special

Activities), they may come home with their homework not complete.

CAN  MY CHILD ATTEND LAWRENCE SPECIAL ACTIVITY CLASSES (LSA) IF THEY ARE ENROLLED IN LEDP?

Yes! LSA classes are a great opportunity for all ages. These are classes run by the PTO and they offer a wide variety of activities. These classes run 3 semester a year and run for 6/7 weeks at a time. You will need to sign up /pay for these ahead of time. They do run right after school, so your child will miss our scheduled homework time in LEDP. (Younger children are walked to/from these classes)

WHERE WILL MY CHILD'S BELONGINGS BE KEPT?

All children will have a cubby to put their belongings in.   Depending on numbers, many of our cubbies are shared with a classmate.

YOUNGER CHILDREN MAY KEEP A LABLED BAG ( WE WILL SEND HOME) OF EXTRA CLOTHES IN THE CUBBIES.   PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING.

CAN I LEAVE MONTHLY PAYMENTS IN LEDP?

Yes- You may give payments to the LEDP teachers and I will get them to our bookkeeper, Estha, who comes once a week to the program. But signing up for ACH withdrawal is a much easier system. Please email me asking for a form.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE SNACKS FOR MY CHILD?

YES- Again this year, LEDP is NOT providing snacks. Each group will have a snack time. We encourage you to provide a healthy snack choice, and NOTHING that has to be heated. LEDP is a PEANUT FREE PROGRAM.

IF MY CHILD HAS AN ALLERGY- DO I NEED ANYTHING?

YES- YES AND YES!  Your child may not start LEDP without the proper medications and documentations.   The School nurse is not here after hours, so LEDP needs their own epi-pen/inhaler and/or medications.  While in LEDP, children’s medications will travel with them to each and every room we use. LEDP keeps our First aid bags very safe with a teacher at all times. The LEDP staff will be in the school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the week before school begins, please make time to meet with us to pass along medications and paperwork.
