LEDP operates primarily in the basement of the school building. Close collaboration with the school Principal and classroom teachers has resulted in their making classrooms available to complete homework. LEDP also has access to the library, auditorium, cafeteria, gymnasiums and playground areas.
We maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for every 10 children in kindergarten. The ratio may go up to 1:13 in our older student programs. Many of our teachers have a degree in early childhood education; others studied art, theater or music. Some are musicians, others speak Spanish - the language taught at Lawrence School. They are nurturing, responsible, fun and energetic. In each teaching team we have 2-3 teachers, one of whom is the coordinator and must be certified by the Department of Early Education and Care, our licenser.
Our daily schedule includes a variety of activities that vary by age group. Homework support is a priority and we strive to have homework completed by pick up time. We work with classroom teachers by providing activities that continue and reinforce learning via arts and crafts, games, cooking and science projects. Each day also includes snack time and free play both indoors and out.
Your child may attend for 5, 4, 3 or 2 days. We operate from 2:30 – 5:45 Monday to Thursday and 1:40 - 5:45 on Friday. Each day has scheduled pickups because at this time parents are not allowed in the building. We require parents to sign an annual contract and there is a financial obligation if you change your schedule or leave the program.
We offer coverage over most school holidays at an additional fee. These days include: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Good Friday, Juneteenth and Professional Development days.
